Ohio State sweeps No. 1 Wisconsin

No. 2 Ohio State swept reigning national champion and No. 1 Wisconsin in their season-opening WCHA series, winning 2-1 in the opener and 5-3 in the rematch. The Buckeyes took control late in both games, scoring twice in the third period of the opener and outshooting Wisconsin 17-6 in the final period of the second game. Wisconsin rallied from a 3-1 deficit to tie the rematch, but Hilda Svensson scored the go-ahead goal early in the third, and Sanni Vanhanen added insurance. Vanhanen had two goals in the 5-3 win, while Mira Jungåker recorded three assists. The sweep was Ohio State’s first over Wisconsin since the 2023-24 season and strengthens the Buckeyes’ position as an early title contender.
