Medvedev Reaches Shanghai Quarterfinals, Boosts Turin Bid

Daniil Medvedev beat Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-4, 7-5 to reach the Shanghai Masters quarterfinals, extending his winning record against the Greek to 11-5 and making another strong push toward a seventh ATP Finals appearance. Medvedev served eight aces, won 33 of 39 first-serve points and did not face a break point; he will next play Tommy Paul, who defeated Zizou Bergs, the player who had upset Carlos Alcaraz. Elsewhere, Rafael Jodar rallied past Botic van de Zandschulp to set up a quarterfinal against Casper Ruud, who advanced after Felix Auger-Aliassime retired with a suspected knee injury.
