Kansas Man Wanted in Alleged Nebraska Campus Assault

Authorities have issued an arrest warrant for 32-year-old Joseph Favata of Kansas in connection with an alleged sexual assault near the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus in Lincoln on Sept. 29. He faces charges of attempted first-degree sexual assault and first-degree false imprisonment and is accused of approaching a student near 16th and R streets and sexually assaulting her. Investigators identified Favata by comparing his driver’s license photo with surveillance footage; police say they believe he may be in the Wichita area and are working with Kansas law enforcement to find him.
