Israeli Envoy’s Son Critically Injured in West Bank

Neria Leiter, the son of Israel’s ambassador to the United States, Yechiel Leiter, was critically injured Wednesday in a suspected vehicle-ramming attack at a checkpoint near Beit Horon in the West Bank. Israeli officials said Leiter was serving as a reserve soldier and was being treated at Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem. The suspected attacker, identified as 29-year-old Palestinian Mahmoud Muhammad Mahmoud Suleiman, was shot and killed at the scene, according to reports citing Palestinian health officials. Yechiel Leiter said his son needed a miracle and noted that Neria had continued serving after his older brother, Moshe Yedidya Leiter, was killed in Gaza in 2023. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other U.S. and Israeli officials expressed support and prayers for the family.
