Hungary Won't Oppose Ukrainian Grain Transit to Europe
Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar said Hungary would allow Ukrainian grain to transit to other countries, responding to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s request for neighboring states to restore overland routes disrupted by Russian attacks on Black Sea ports. Magyar said shipments could travel in sealed railcars to Western Europe, but clarified that transit would not mean opening Hungary’s market to Ukrainian products. The proposal revives a route used after Russia’s 2022 invasion and could help sustain Ukraine’s agricultural exports, most of which ordinarily move through the Black Sea. The leaders also agreed to reset bilateral relations and continue consultations on other issues.
