House Democrats Outline Plans to Scrutinize Trump if They Win Majority

Winning would provide increased staffing, investigative authority and subpoena power for investigations into Trump family business dealings and wealth growth since January 2025, possible civil rights violations from ICE deportations, and other matters already previewed in near-daily letters and amicus filings. Jamie Raskin, in line for Judiciary Committee chairman, described the issues as gargantuan and called to zero in on systemic corruption with legislative cures. Leaders Robert Garcia, Gregory Meeks and Jared Huffman detailed targets from Trump family and Epstein matters to ICE, Venezuela oil and military actions, White House renovations and mineral deals. Garcia noted we're already doing work; Huffman said we'll use those tools and act like the Congress. CONTESTED: Jeffries said we haven't ruled anything out, and we haven't ruled anything in. Left-rated and right-rated outlets both present the plans with impeachment of Trump not off the table or possible if Democrats win. Discussions are underway on possible impeachment of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. The administration may ignore subpoenas, Democrats say, and investigations would reach corporate entities. A reported claim is that a wedding for Donald Trump Jr. was partly sponsored by a Russian oligarch with ties to the Kremlin.
