Cultural fashion shows spotlight designers across cities

The Ówaŋg Waštéya Waȟwayela Mani Fashion Show returns during Black Hills Powwow weekend, giving Native designers and models a platform and celebrating talent in the community. Its “Wild for Style” theme features 10 designers, with an evening runway show hosted by actors Michael and Eddie Spears and, for the first time, a free daytime show. Organizers say the event aims to create opportunities across the fashion industry, not just showcase clothing. Indigenous designers also took the spotlight at New York’s Indigenous New York Fashion Week, where 30 designers participated; one collection featured jingle-dress-inspired pieces and wearable art made from pop-can tabs and ribbons.
