Man Dies After Ejection at Six Flags Over Georgia

A 42-year-old Atlanta man, Hassan Jihad Ibn Kariem, died Monday after being ejected from the Goliath roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia and falling beneath the ride; witnesses said he struck the coaster and other riders as he fell. Four other people were injured, and authorities have not determined what caused the incident. Six Flags temporarily closed nine similar coasters across parks in the U.S. and Canada as a precaution, including Nitro at Six Flags Great Adventure, Behemoth and Leviathan at Canada’s Wonderland, Fury 325 and Thunder Striker at Carowinds, and Orion and Diamondback at Kings Island; rides at Six Flags Great America and Six Flags Magic Mountain were also closed. Montreal’s La Ronde separately closed Goliath for a safety review with the manufacturer. The parks have not announced reopening timelines, and Six Flags says it is cooperating with authorities as the investigation continues.
