SeaWorld Mako Closure Unclear After Georgia Coaster Death

SeaWorld Orlando temporarily closed its 200-foot Mako hypercoaster as a precaution after a 42-year-old man, Hassan Jihad Ibn Kariem, was killed when he was ejected from Goliath at Six Flags Over Georgia. Both rides were built by Swiss manufacturer Bolliger & Mabillard and share a hypercoaster design; one report also noted they use the same restraint system. Six Flags temporarily suspended operations on several similar coasters across its U.S. and Canadian parks, while SeaWorld has not said when Mako will reopen. Georgia authorities are investigating the fatal incident.
