Marysville Grocery Stabbing Kills One, Injures Another

A stabbing at a Save Mart in Marysville, California, on Sunday afternoon killed 64-year-old store employee Douglas Lee Eid of Clearlake and seriously injured another man, whose injuries were not life-threatening. Bystanders detained 33-year-old Samuel Hartbower outside the store before police arrived, and officers recovered a weapon nearby; the second victim went to a hospital on his own. Hartbower was arrested on suspicion of homicide and assault with a deadly weapon. Police said Hartbower did not know the victims, described the attack as isolated and said there was no ongoing threat to the community. He also had an active felony assault warrant from Yuba City and was on post-release community supervision in Yuba County.
