Russian Strike on Kramatorsk Kills at Least 33

A Russian strike on two passenger buses in Kramatorsk, in Ukraine’s Donetsk region, killed at least 33 people and injured 18, making it one of the deadliest single attacks reported this year. Ukrainian officials accused Russia of deliberately targeting civilians; Moscow did not immediately comment, and Russia denies targeting civilians. Authorities suspended public transport in Kramatorsk and nearby Sloviansk and urged residents to seek safety as Russian strikes intensified against the region’s strategic “fortress belt.” The attack followed deadly strikes elsewhere in Ukraine, including a missile attack on Pryluky that killed 22 people, among them five children, and drone attacks in Kyiv that caused casualties and worsening power outages. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned of increased attacks ahead of winter and called for more air-defense support.
