West Virginia’s Rodriguez set for Arizona matchup
Ahead of Arizona’s game at West Virginia, Rich Rodriguez is preparing to face his former program for the first time since coaching the Wildcats from 2012 to 2017. His Arizona tenure included five bowl appearances, the 2014 Pac-12 South title and standout players such as quarterback Khalil Tate, whose 327 rushing yards in a game set an FBS record at the time. Rodriguez recalled his family’s happy years in Tucson and praised current coach Brent Brennan, quarterback Noah Fifita and Arizona’s aggressive defense, while calling the Wildcats a major challenge for his Mountaineers. West Virginia, now 3-2 under Rodriguez, has been averaging 37.4 points per game, continuing his long-standing emphasis on athletic quarterbacks and a read-option offense.
