Twin Brothers Plead Guilty in $1.3M Golf Tax Scheme
Twin brothers and MRI technicians Se Youn “Steve” Kim and Hee Youn “Ted” Kim pleaded guilty to federal tax crimes after failing to report more than $1.3 million earned from a golf tee-time resale business. Prosecutors say they reserved thousands of tee times at courses in Los Angeles and Orange counties, resold them for a fee, and routed the proceeds to personal accounts despite setting up a company and business account. The brothers also falsely claimed they were exempt from federal tax withholding at their jobs; Steve Kim admitted to additional unpaid taxes from earlier years. They are scheduled for sentencing in January 2027, with Steve facing a maximum three-year prison term and Ted a maximum five-year term.
