Trump says Norway has 'indelible stain' for not awarding him Nobel Peace Prize
President Donald Trump told a rally at the Oncenter in Syracuse, N.Y., on Oct. 9, 2026, that not awarding him the Nobel Peace Prize leaves an indelible stain on Norway. The committee gave the 2026 prize to Navi Pillay, 85, a South African legal pioneer who led a UN panel concluding Israel committed genocide in Gaza. Trump said he had never heard of her but congratulated her, and that the United States represented by him should have received the prize for ending eight conflicts. He called the decision disgraceful, said the prize is forever discredited by radical ideologues, and that Norway is ripping off the country. Ukraine's war has continued through his presidency, and a war he launched with Iran in 2026 is ongoing. The trip backed GOP gubernatorial nominee Bruce Blakeman and attorney general nominee Saritha Komatireddy. Trump called Letitia James that disgusting Letitia dog and urged New Yorkers to fire her and Gov. Kathy Hochul. A James spokesperson said Trump supports the only AG candidate who clerked for Brett Kavanaugh, who ended Roe v. Wade. Pillay joked she may share the prize with Trump if the crowd clapped more. Elisha Wiesel said the award betrays Elie Wiesel's legacy from his December 10, 1986, Oslo acceptance. Kåre Kristiansen resigned over the 1994 Arafat prize. 2025 winner María Corina Machado had offered to share her prize with Trump after Maduro's removal in Venezuela.
