Trump Aides Hold Unannounced Camp David Meeting on Iran and Yemen
Senior Trump officials met for several hours at Camp David on Oct. 2, 2026, in an unannounced session on the Iran war and the Saudi-Houthi conflict in Yemen. Vice President JD Vance chaired. Attendees were Marco Rubio, Pete Hegseth, Steve Witkoff, John Ratcliffe, and Gen. Dan Caine. Axios, citing three U.S. officials, reported that things were decided or at least deeply discussed. The White House declined to comment. Negotiations with Iran were stalled, and Trump was weighing whether to resume major combat operations. While advisers met, Trump told Kurdistan24's Rahim Rashidi, "If I told you, you would have a major story," and "Iran is not doing well." On Thursday he said Iran must sign a deal or it will not exist any longer. Saudi Arabia pressed him to join airstrikes against the Houthis; Reuters said a planned offensive could mobilize more than 100,000 Yemeni troops. Anadolu, citing the Wall Street Journal, reported a third carrier strike group and up to 10,000 troops by the end of November. Yemeni warplanes carried out 20 strikes in Taiz on Oct. 2. Pakistan's Ishaq Dar said Iran proposed political engagement with the Houthis ahead of talks with Saudi Arabia and Turkiye in Riyadh.
