Tesla Registers $3M Vietnam Unit to Enter EV Market
Tesla registered Tesla Motors Vietnam Limited Liability Company in Ho Chi Minh City with about $3 million in charter capital, or VND77.7 billion. The registration became public on September 14, 2026, and drew Vietnamese press attention. GuruFocus dates the founding to September 11; Dan Tri dates the filing to September 12. David Jon Feinstein is chairman, Isabel Ching Fan is general director, and Nguyen Manh Hung is assistant general director and a legal representative. The subsidiary is authorized to wholesale and retail vehicles, auto parts and machinery and to run related import, export and distribution; Dan Tri says that spans seven business areas. GuruFocus puts Tesla's market capitalization near $1.44 trillion; Dan Tri puts it at over $1.4 trillion. Global deliveries in 2025 reached nearly 1.64 million vehicles. Tesla already distributes the Model 3 and Model Y in Thailand and has showcased the Cybertruck there, and holds an official distribution license in Malaysia with charging stations and service centers. Named Vietnam competitors include domestic EV leader VinFast and Chinese automaker BYD, which is expanding its model lineup and dealership network. The filing does not say when commercial operations will begin or which models will be offered.
