Trump to Create AI Force Modeled on Space Force

On Saturday, President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social that he is forming an AI Force, much like Space Force, and will appoint an AI czar. He wrote the United States will not hinder or stifle the industry's growth but will cherish, help, and watch over it, while looking for BAD through the existing criminal and civil justice system. He has not named an appointee and said only High I.Q. individuals need apply. Reporting dated Sept. 19, 2026 gave no details on structure, authority, or the czar's duties. A week earlier Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei proposed curbing the pace of AI development, with OpenAI and xAI CEOs reportedly agreeing. Geoffrey Hinton warned lawmakers in a closed-door briefing this week that Congress has maybe a year to regulate. Trump has said whoever wins AI wins, called Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang while Huang was onstage at an industry summit, and is due to meet the next week with AI a major topic. Gavin Newsom signed an AI oversight executive order the day before. Former AI and crypto czar David Sacks, now an adviser after special government employee term limits, is expected at the Xi state dinner. Trump also polled followers on renaming artificial intelligence to terms such as extreme or supreme intelligence.
