Students Across Campuses Promote Breast Cancer Awareness
Students and colleges marked Breast Cancer Awareness Month with community outreach and fundraising. At VLB Janakiammal College in India, 125 students formed a human chain and handed out pamphlets urging early detection, regular screening and medical consultation. In Laredo, two United South students organized a walk, with proceeds supporting American Cancer Society campaigns. Pueblo Community College’s cosmetology program is selling pink and purple hair extensions as a fundraiser. At the University of Florida, a nonprofit-led campus program covered warning signs, risk factors and family history, stressing that breast cancer can affect younger people and men as well as women.
