Perry and Stelson Face Off in 2024 Rematch
Republican Rep. Scott Perry and Democratic challenger Janelle Stelson clashed in a Pennsylvania 10th Congressional District debate, renewing their contest after Perry won their close 2024 race by about 5,100 votes. Perry defended continued action in the war with Iran as necessary to counter a nuclear threat, while Stelson called for ending the war and returning to diplomacy, citing rising fuel costs for farmers. They also disputed housing costs, tariffs and gas prices, with Stelson blaming Perry’s votes and Republican policies for worsening costs and Perry defending his record and saying the Senate changed a housing bill he supported in the House. On data centers and artificial intelligence, Stelson called for stronger local input and regulation, while Perry stressed competition with China and accountability for AI risks. Debate commentators offered contrasting assessments of the candidates’ performances.
