The Dallas Stars are signing 38-year-old forward David Perron to a one-year contract with a prorated $850,000 cap hit, bringing him back for his 20th NHL season. The low-cost addition is intended to bolster Dallas’s forward depth, with the signing coming after Matt Duchene was sidelined for three months following core surgery. Perron recorded 28 points in 65 games split between Ottawa and Detroit last season, including three goals in 16 games after the trade to Detroit. A Stanley Cup winner with St. Louis, he has 812 career points in 1,239 regular-season games, though recent injuries and declining production leave his role and impact in Dallas uncertain.
