CHSAA Places Lutheran High on Probation, Threatens Suspension

The Colorado High School Activities Association placed Lutheran High School’s athletic department on immediate, 12-month probation after an investigation found racist and discriminatory language and unacceptable behavior at events across multiple sports and seasons. The review followed allegations from Sand Creek and Rampart communities, including claims of racial slurs and gestures toward Black cheerleaders at a football game and reports of discriminatory conduct at a basketball contest. Lutheran must carry out a corrective action plan covering event management, spectator conduct, staff training and school culture, then demonstrate progress to the CHSAA board. If the school fails to meet the requirements, CHSAA may recommend suspending its membership, barring it from association-sponsored activities. Air Academy and Coronado forfeited games against Lutheran amid the allegations, while Palmer Ridge said it would play its scheduled game.
