Saints wide receiver Chris Olave missed Wednesday and Thursday practices with an illness, leaving his availability for Sunday’s game against the Giants uncertain. Friday is his final chance to practice before the team may need to issue a game designation. Through five games, Olave ranks second in the NFL with 39 catches and 537 receiving yards, despite New Orleans’ 1-4 start. The Saints are short on available receivers, and the Giants have injury concerns of their own, including pass rusher Abdul Carter and starting offensive tackles Andrew Thomas and Jermaine Eluemunor, who missed practice.

BYU’s 28-24 upset of No. 2 Notre Dame improved the Cougars to 6-0, strengthened their playoff résumé and raised the Big 12’s profile; one projection even placed BYU atop the AP poll, though Miami was considered likelier to claim No. 1. The win also opened a possible path for the Big 12 to send three teams to the playoff if BYU, Texas Tech and Utah each finish with one loss.
