PSG ends Manchester City's eight-match winning run with 4-2 victory
Paris Saint-Germain beat Manchester City 4-2 at the Etihad Stadium, ending City's eight-match winning run and securing PSG's first win there. Désiré Doué, Ousmane Dembélé and Vitinha put PSG 3-0 up by half-time. After three City substitutions at the break, Erling Haaland scored twice, Maghnes Akliouche made it 4-1 following a Gianluigi Donnarumma error, and Donnarumma saved Ferran Torres's late penalty. Pep Guardiola watched from the stands on his first return since leaving in May, clutching his face at a cleared Josko Gvardiol header and pumping fists when Haaland scored. Enzo Maresca said PSG are the best team in Europe but City created enough in the second half to maybe deserve something, and deserved more from the chances after trailing 3-0. Luis Enrique said PSG were far superior in the first half yet could have lost. Nedum Onuoha called it great entertainment, saying the sides were not going at it together, with PSG dominant before the interval. The match was City's first home game since an independent commission found more than 100 Premier League financial-rule breaches; City denied the findings and appealed. PSG's unbeaten Champions League run reached 12 matches.
