Chiefs Ease Simmons Back as Rice, Thornton Sit
Chiefs left tackle Josh Simmons returned to practice on a limited basis Wednesday after missing the season’s first four games with a bulging disk in his back. Coach Andy Reid said Kansas City will ease Simmons back in and has not set a timetable for his return to games; rookie Kahlil Benson has started at left tackle in his absence. Wide receiver Rashee Rice, who injured his hamstring against the Raiders, did not practice, putting his availability for Sunday’s game against the Chargers in doubt. The Chiefs are also without Tyquan Thornton, who was placed on injured reserve with a dislocated ankle, increasing the pressure on Xavier Worthy and younger receivers. Kansas City added former Chief Justin Watson to its practice squad during the bye week.
