Steelers Host Colts With Key Players Out
The 2-2 Steelers host the 2-2 Colts in Week 5, with Pittsburgh coming off a sloppy loss to Cleveland and Indianapolis coming off a win over Washington. Pittsburgh signed veteran cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting from Tampa Bay’s practice squad and waived Doneiko Slaughter, while also signing linebacker Marte Mapu to its practice squad and placing defensive lineman Derrick Harmon on injured reserve; the team had traded Joey Porter Jr. to Dallas and is without cornerback Jamel Dean, with Jalen Ramsey active. Steelers running back Rico Dowdle will miss his third straight game, leaving Jaylen Warren to shoulder more of the workload. Indianapolis will be without Michael Pittman Jr., who is on injured reserve, and pass rusher Arden Key, while Keenan Allen is active; the Colts may lean on Jonathan Taylor, who has scored six of their seven rushing touchdowns. Indianapolis has committed eight giveaways, while Pittsburgh has recorded eight takeaways, and the Colts’ pass rush has been among the league’s weakest, potentially giving Aaron Rodgers time to operate.
