Reese sets league record with 30th double-double in Dream win over Sun

Angel Reese scored 30 points on 11-of-14 shooting with 10 rebounds as the Atlanta Dream beat the Connecticut Sun 103-59 in the first WNBA game after a nearly three-week break for the FIBA World Cup. Reese, a member of the winning U.S. team in Germany, reached 30 points on a free throw with 5:38 remaining and grabbed her 10th rebound seconds later to set the league record for double-doubles in a season. She played 25 minutes, one point shy of her career high of 31, after totaling 19 points, 6 rebounds and 2 blocks at halftime. Midway through the third she made a corner 3-pointer, her 10th field goal in 13 attempts, during a 16-5 run that put Atlanta ahead 61-40. Rhyne Howard missed her first eight 3-point attempts before hitting the record-breaking shot in the fourth quarter. Reese set the prior double-doubles record with her 29th on Aug. 30 in an 89-81 win over the Minnesota Lynx and is averaging career-best 16.5 points and 12.4 rebounds. Atlanta improved to 27-14.
