Umanmielen Served in Ole Miss Lawsuit Before Showdown

Princewill Umanmielen was served court papers Tuesday in the parking lot outside LSU's football facility ahead of No. 7 LSU's visit to No. 8 Ole Miss on Saturday at 7 p.m. Ole Miss sued Umanmielen and Devin Harper in July in Lafayette County Civil Court for $550,000 and $400,000 over January revenue-sharing agreements that allegedly penalized leaving within 90 days. The players allegedly missed a 30-day response window after a payment request. Umanmielen received interrogatories, document requests, and requests for admission; Harper has not been served. Kiffin left Ole Miss Nov. 30 for LSU; Ole Miss declined his playoff coaching request and promoted Pete Golding, who reached the national semifinals. Umanmielen had nine sacks and 13 tackles for loss as a junior in 2025. What is contested: Ole Miss said, "The University of Mississippi has a responsibility to enforce its contractual terms, and this position is consistent with the actions of other institutions in the current landscape of college athletics. The university attempted to amicably resolve this matter prior to filing." A July 27 statement added, "The University of Mississippi values its student-athletes and is committed to honoring all obligations made to them. In return, the university expects that same commitment from its student-athletes and their representatives in upholding their contracts." Officials later told ESPN, "We defer to our initial statement on the matter and have no further comment." The suit remains open ahead of kickoff in Oxford.
