Seven Ebola Cases Prompt Africa CDC Surveillance Push
Kenya’s confirmed Bundibugyo Ebola cases have risen to seven, including the death of the initial patient, after four additional infections were identified among people already in quarantine. The new cases include three health care workers who treated the first patient and one family member; all are receiving supportive care. Authorities say they have traced and quarantined 128 of 130 identified contacts, and report no evidence of community transmission. Africa CDC is supporting Kenya’s response and urging stronger cross-border surveillance, information sharing and coordinated outbreak preparedness amid the evolving outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
