Samsung Affiliates Commit $1 Billion to AI Firm Helix
Six Samsung affiliates will invest a combined $1 billion in Helix Digital Infrastructure, announced Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2026. Samsung Electronics will contribute $500 million. Samsung C&T, Samsung SDS, Samsung SDI, Samsung Life Insurance and Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance will contribute a combined $500 million. Helix and KKR issued a joint announcement the same day. Helix launched in June with more than $10 billion in committed long-term capital from KKR, the Kuwait Investment Authority, Nvidia and Vistra. Adam Selipsky, former CEO of Amazon Web Services, leads the firm. Nvidia is a strategic partner and Vistra is Helix’s preferred power partner. Selipsky said Samsung’s commitment "demonstrates strong confidence in Helix’s strategy and will further strengthen the long-term capital base we have built to meet demand for large-scale AI infrastructure." Samsung said it plans to seek synergies linking affiliates’ capabilities with Helix’s buildout of data centers, power, networks and related infrastructure. KKR has invested more than $75 billion in digital and power infrastructure worldwide and has deployed about $9 billion in South Korea since 2009.
