Reported Pakistani Strike Kills Three in Afghan Province

At least three people were killed and several injured in a reported Pakistani airstrike on Kunar province, a provincial official told Tolo News on Monday, Sep 21, 2026. The strike came two days after an attack on a police facility in northwestern Pakistan. Pakistan and Afghanistan had their worst military confrontation in years in February. Zabihullah Mujahid warned Islamabad against strikes inside Afghanistan ahead of the reported strike and rejected its allegations in an Al Arabiya English interview. A Pakistani military spokesperson told Al Arabiya English that militant groups use Afghan territory to recruit, train and arm fighters. Mujahid said the Taliban does not allow TTP to operate from Afghan soil and does not support armed groups attacking other countries. "If Pakistan invokes Article 51 to violate the sanctity of Afghan territory, Afghanistan has the right to defend its country, and we will do so," Mujahid said. He backed possible Saudi Arabia mediation. The Taliban has consistently denied allowing Afghan territory to be used for attacks on Pakistan. CONTESTED: Pakistan's claim that militants use Afghan territory versus Mujahid's rejection of those allegations. Whether further clashes follow remains unresolved.
