Off-Duty Officer Charged in Belleville Triple Shooting

An off-duty East St. Louis police officer, Jaylon Lee, was charged with five counts of aggravated battery with a firearm in connection with a shooting that wounded three people at a Belleville apartment building. Lee and the two other people injured were hospitalized, and police said their treatment delayed interviews and the investigation. Investigators have said they are not seeking additional suspects and that there is no indication of an ongoing public threat; the case is expected to go to the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office for review after the investigation is complete.
