Nissan to bring first U.S. Rogue e-Power hybrid to market in November

Christian Meunier spoke at a media event in Yokohama on Nissan's U.S. localization goals. The company set a November launch for the 2027 Rogue e-Power hybrid. It starts at $35,490. The system uses a 1.5-liter turbo engine to generate electricity for dual electric motors, with dual-motor AWD standard, 225 horsepower and estimated 40 mpg city, 36 highway and 38 combined. It replaces the Rogue Plug-In Hybrid, dropped less than a year after debut. That model, based on the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, began production January 12, 2026 at Mitsubishi's Okazaki Plant, listed at $45,990, lacked federal tax-credit eligibility and carried a 15% import tariff. Ponz Pandikuthira said the PHEV's role was simple: "If people shopping online see that Rogue does not offer a hybrid, they will not go to the dealer." Meunier called the e-Power launch pivotal, citing exceptional efficiency, smooth responsive performance, immediate torque and one of the quietest cabins in its class. Nissan wants hybrids to take 30% to 40% of U.S. midsize compact-segment sales, aims for 80% U.S. production localization by 2030 up from about 65%, and says domestic e-Power Rogue output could start as early as 2028. The SR Technology Package AWD arrives first this fall; SV, SR and Platinum models go on sale early 2027. Contested: No factual disputes found.
