Metacon Secures €188,018 for Biogas-to-Hydrogen Project
Metacon’s Greek subsidiary has received €188,018 in EU funding for PUREHY2+, a 36-month effort to develop a system that converts biogas into hydrogen with purity above 99.97% while capturing carbon dioxide on site. The project builds on an earlier Greek semi-pilot and aims to help existing biogas facilities add renewable hydrogen production using established infrastructure. Metacon has also secured support for BIOH2VAP, which will demonstrate biomethane-to-hydrogen production at an industrial biogas plant in Crete, and AMEL, a research project advancing anion-exchange-membrane electrolysis using catalysts that avoid precious and critical raw materials. Together, the projects broaden Metacon’s development and commercialization work across biogas reforming and water electrolysis.
