Matt Dumba retires after 13 NHL seasons
Matt Dumba is retiring after 13 NHL seasons and 748 games, the NHL Players’ Association announced. Drafted seventh overall by Minnesota in 2012, he spent 10 seasons with the Wild and also played for the Coyotes, Lightning, Stars and Penguins; his final NHL stint was 11 games in Pittsburgh. He finished his career with 85 goals and 261 points, with his best season coming in 2017-18, when he recorded 50 points. Dumba also became known for his advocacy, earning the 2020 King Clancy Memorial Trophy and helping found the Hockey Diversity Alliance to combat racism and intolerance in hockey. At Minnesota’s home opener, he said he was focusing on family and called his career a good ride.
