Lucas Outlines Miami’s Year-Two Basketball Priorities
Miami coach Jai Lucas says his second season will build on the team’s physical identity while emphasizing better rebounding, defending without fouling and earning points at the free-throw line. He also wants the Hurricanes to play faster in transition and make better use of improved perimeter shooting from returning players and newcomers. With a substantially reshaped roster, Lucas said the group feels almost like starting over, though Miami returns key players including Shelton Henderson and Dante Allen. He is excited by the team’s coachability and believes it can contend in the ACC by the end of conference play, while acknowledging it still has work to do.
