Hearst Showcases Afghan Artisans at Paris Fashion Week
Gabriela Hearst showed her Spring/Summer 2027 ready-to-wear collection on Oct. 5, 2026, at the Petit Palais courtyard during Paris Fashion Week. Working with nonprofit Turquoise Mountain, the label sourced Afghan artisans; show notes traced Afghan textile history from 1901 onward and named Afghan women her "22 million muses." Looks included ikat patchwork jackets and dresses with shisha-mirror embroidery, artisan paintings on jewelry and linen-blazer buttons, and a finale of white dresses embroidered with pomegranates. Katie Holmes attended. Silk trench coats used water-based natural resin instead of nylon. After the show Hearst said: "It was such a beautiful collection to research, and to make, and to really think about the women" and "In a place like Afghanistan things can be harsh... but they can also make beautiful things." On climate she added that conditions are harder to predict in Uruguay and "We must never forget that we're here because of the burning of fossil fuels." She said she would rejoin a large label "if the values were aligned." LVMH Luxury Ventures took a minority stake in 2019. No contested claims found.
