Alzheimer’s walks exceed goals in Las Vegas and other cities
Walk to End Alzheimer’s events across the country brought together thousands of participants, people living with dementia, families, caregivers and supporters to raise money for research, care and support services and to honor loved ones. Events were held in Arkansas, Georgia, Pennsylvania, New York, Nevada and Mississippi, including gatherings in Fayetteville, Valdosta, Moosic, Utica, Las Vegas and Hattiesburg. Las Vegas drew more than 3,000 walkers and had raised over $578,000 by the start of the event, exceeding its $430,000 goal; Hattiesburg raised more than $93,000, while Valdosta donations topped $22,000 toward a $23,000 target. Organizers and participants emphasized research, community support and caregiver resources, and Alzheimer’s Association representatives cited advances in early detection and treatments that may slow the disease’s progression.
