GE Aerospace Foundation plans $1M Auburn-Montgomery training investment
The GE Aerospace Foundation plans to invest $1 million in workforce training across Alabama’s Auburn-Montgomery region through its Lifting Futures program, with grants beginning in 2027 expected to reach more than 400 people. The funding supports the program’s broader goal of training 10,000 aerospace workers by 2030 and responds to regional challenges including limited awareness of career opportunities, low training completion and a need for better coordination among employers and training providers. Southern Union State Community College will offer a free bootcamp for entry-level aerospace and advanced manufacturing jobs and buy equipment, while Auburn’s Industrial Development Board will promote no-cost training and hiring opportunities and the Montgomery Regional Chamber of Commerce will expand the manufacturing workforce pipeline.
