Former Alaska Attorney Sentenced 20 Years for Trafficking
Justin Facey, a 46-year-old former Anchorage defense attorney, was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to possessing fentanyl and methamphetamine with intent to distribute. Prosecutors said he helped a drug-trafficking organization that supplied Alaska communities, and alleged he used his home to distribute drugs and exploited vulnerable women; more than 60 people have been charged in connection with the operation. Facey’s defense lawyers argued untreated addiction and mental-health issues contributed to his conduct, including his decision to work for a drug dealer who offered to pay legal bills with cocaine. The court also imposed five years of supervised release, and prosecutors dropped four other drug-trafficking and weapons charges under the plea agreement.
