EU Court Rejects Stripchat DSA Challenge

On 14 October 2026 the EU General Court dismissed Technius Ltd.'s challenge to the European Commission's designation of its adult-content platform Stripchat as a very large online platform under the Digital Services Act. Technius had sued at the Luxembourg-based General Court after the designation. Stripchat reported about 31.8 million average monthly EU users; the Commission counted more than 62 million average monthly unique visitors, above the 45 million threshold. Fines can reach 6% of global turnover. Technius may appeal on points of law to the EU Court of Justice in case T-134/24 Technius v Commission. Technius's figure relied on Similarweb data with a reduction for bounced visits; the Commission found that reduction produced an underestimate. Sara Brandstätter at MLex dated the designation to December 2023 and reported a later correction that put Stripchat below the threshold. Foo Yun Chee of Reuters, edited by Charlotte Van Campenhout, described the designation as three years earlier. Those timing and correction accounts remain source-specific; the appeal route is open.
