Exorcist: Martyrs Trailer Puts Johansson’s Son at Risk
Mike Flanagan’s first trailer and poster for The Exorcist: Martyrs introduce Scarlett Johansson as NYPD detective Julie Miller, whose investigation of serial killer Father Sunday is revived by a new string of ritualistic murders and leads to a supernatural threat to her young son. A priest who heard Sunday’s final confession and a rookie detective assist her, as the case hints at a connection among serial killers and a supernatural evil. John Leguizamo plays Sunday, with Chiwetel Ejiofor, Laurence Fishburne, Sasha Calle and Jacobi Jupe also in the cast. Set decades after The Exorcist III, the film has new characters and a new story designed to stand on its own; Flanagan has said he aims to make the scariest movie of his career. The film marks Johansson’s return to horror and is scheduled to open in theaters March 12, 2027.
