Netflix Orders Lady Violet Bridgerton Prequel Series
Netflix on October 8, 2026 ordered an untitled limited series on the romance of young Lady Violet Bridgerton and Viscount Edmund Bridgerton. Shonda Rhimes and Nicholas Nardini will write and showrun. Tom Verica will direct and executive produce; Betsy Beers is also an executive producer. The project follows the 2023 Emmy-winning Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story and draws on Julia Quinn's novella Violet in Bloom. No casting, title, or release date was announced. Bridgerton Season 5, centered on Francesca Bridgerton and Michaela Stirling, is in production. Lady Whistledown's Instagram announcement stated: "Dearest Gentle Reader, this author writes to you with the most exciting news... The time has come for us to turn our attention to the matriarch of our beloved Bridgertons." It added that a new series chronicling the romance "is underway" and that "The love match that started it all shall soon be yours to see, dear reader." No factual disputes appear across rated coverage. Left-leaning outlets foregrounded the Lady Violet love-story spinoff and trade pickup. Right-leaning outlets reported Netflix's order of the young Violet prequel. Title, cast, and release timing remain unresolved.
