She rose to prominence with her film debut as Marlon Brando’s love interest in Elia Kazan’s On the Waterfront, earning the 1955 Academy Award for best supporting actress. Saint became widely known for her role as a clever, alluring secret agent opposite Cary Grant in Alfred Hitchcock’s North by Northwest, and later acted in films including Exodus and Superman Returns.
