Rick Ross Faces Domestic Violence Battery Charges
Rapper Rick Ross, 50, was arrested in Miami Beach and booked into Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center at 6:10 a.m. on a felony battery-by-strangulation charge and a misdemeanor battery charge, both domestic violence-related. Bond was $6,000. He pleaded not guilty; arraignment is Oct. 22. An arrest report says the alleged Aug. 28 incident began after an argument over a woman being tagged in an Instagram photo. The woman, in a relationship with Ross for about a year, told police he slapped her, struck her chest, choked her by twisting her hoodie collar, slammed her by the ponytail against a wall, and struck her face, injuring her lip. Jazzma Kendrick posted that Rick busted her lip and she left, later saying she is OK and healing. Ross’s team said he is wrongfully accused by an ex-girlfriend who filed a report a month later and that he is innocent. Attorney Bradley Horenstein said the allegations are false and asked the public to allow the process to play out. Authorities have not confirmed whether Kendrick’s claims relate to the charges.
