Driver charged in fatal Tour de Fat crash

An 88-year-old Cheyenne, Wyoming, man, Van Lemaster, was arrested and charged in connection with an August 29 crash during Fort Collins’ Tour de Fat celebration that killed 33-year-old Joshua Robert Douglass and injured several others. Authorities say Lemaster’s pickup backed out of a parking space, struck another vehicle, then drove onto a crowded sidewalk and hit pedestrians before stopping at a tree. Investigators have ruled out impairment as a factor. Lemaster faces one count of vehicular homicide, four counts of vehicular assault and two counts of reckless endangerment.
