DHS Raids Ilhan Omar’s Home Amid Criminal Investigation
Homeland Security Investigations executed a judicially authorized search warrant at Rep. Ilhan Omar’s Washington, D.C.-area home on the morning of October 12, 2026. A DOJ spokesperson said the warrant was secured by the Department of Justice and that “This enforcement action is part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation.” Agents in HSI jackets were seen outside the home. Sources cited by Fox News said the probe relates to immigration paperwork filled out by Omar’s late father when she was a child; the DOJ statement did not specify that the warrant related to Omar or describe the investigation. Trump and allies have accused Omar of immigration fraud via marriage to her brother, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi. JD Vance said in March the administration “definitely” believed she committed fraud and told the Daily Caller in May, “It certainly seems like something fishy is there,” adding DOJ would investigate and prosecute if it finds a crime. Tom Homan said in mid-September DHS was investigating in a criminal probe and that “If someone committed immigration violation, if someone committed marriage fraud or anything like that, regardless if they’re a congressman or not, no one’s above the law.” Omar’s spokesperson did not immediately respond to NBC News. What the warrant sought and any charges remain unresolved.
