Connor’s Two Goals Lift Jets Past Detroit, 3-2
The Winnipeg Jets beat the Detroit Red Wings 3-2 on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2026, at Little Caesars Arena. Kyle Connor scored two power-play goals and an assist as Winnipeg went 3-for-4 on the power play. Cole Perfetti had a goal and two assists for his 100th career NHL assist; Josh Morrissey had two assists. Stuart Skinner stopped 33 of 35 shots for the Jets' first win; John Gibson made 24 saves. Perfetti's goal at 13:04 of the first deflected off Justin Faulk. Connor scored 1:32 later on a Gabriel Vilardi feed, then again at 5:41 of the second off a Morrissey rebound. Arvidsson scored with 3:08 left in the second and Finnie at 4:56 of the third. Detroit went 1-for-5 on the power play. Contested views centered on special teams. Perfetti said it is safe to say special teams played a huge role in the win. Red Wings coach Todd McLellan said the penalty kill failed them and that 5-on-5 Detroit created more chances than against the Rangers but had to find a way to finish. Jets coach Scott Arniel said Connor has been dominating with the puck through two games and tracked back to break up a 3-on-2 at both ends of the ice. According to CBS News, Dylan Larkin was sidelined with an upper-body injury and Connor Hellebuyck remained on the suspended/inactive list; both have requested trades. Detroit fell to 0-2.
