Columbia pauses journalism MA admissions amid visa uncertainty
Columbia Journalism School is pausing admissions to its Master of Arts program for one year while it reviews and updates the curriculum. Dean Jelani Cobb said visa dynamics were among the considerations, as changing Trump administration policies have contributed to a sharp but unspecified drop in international applications. The pause will not affect current M.A. students, and the school will continue its existing M.S. programs in Journalism and Data Journalism. Columbia is also launching its first online degree, a part-time M.S. in Journalism that students can complete over two years.
