Disney Raises Disney+ and Hulu Prices by 13% Starting Sept 23

As Toy Story 5 debuted on Disney+, Disney raised U.S. prices on Disney+ and Hulu. Ad-free Premium plans for each service move from $18.99 to $21.49 a month. The ad-free bundle rises from $19.99 to $21.99. Ad-supported plans each go from $11.99 to $12.49; the ad-supported bundle stays $12.99. New subscribers face the rates starting Sept. 23, 2026; existing customers see them on the next bill. Disney+ launched at $6.99 in 2019. This is the fourth hike in four years and the sixth increase since 2021. Toy Story 5 was made on a $250 million budget and earned over $1.14 billion worldwide, including $480 million domestically. Online, subscribers discussed canceling and piracy. One wrote, "Of all the streaming services this one was the easiest to justify canceling; hard to justify even before the price increase." Another wrote, "This is their fourth price hike in four years. They are raising prices faster than they are releasing good content." Sources describe only about a 50-cent gap between one Premium plan and the Premium bundle, and the same pattern on ad tiers. Disney+ Europe reportedly added terms allowing ads before and after playback on ad-free premium.
