Taylor Swift Set for Inaugural VMA Director Honor

Taylor Swift will receive the inaugural MTV VMA Artist Director Honors at the 2026 Video Music Awards on Sept. 27 in Los Angeles. The award recognizes artists whose music-video direction has expanded visual storytelling and established a distinctive creative voice. Swift has directed videos including “The Man,” “Cardigan,” “Willow,” “All Too Well: The Short Film,” “Anti-Hero,” “Bejeweled,” “Fortnight,” “The Fate of Ophelia” and “Opalite”; she has won Best Direction four times and is nominated for Video of the Year, Artist of the Year and Best Direction. The honor would make her the most awarded artist in VMA history, surpassing Beyoncé, according to one report. Madonna is scheduled to open the ceremony with her first VMA performance in 23 years, while Snoop Dogg will host; the event will air on CBS and MTV and stream on Paramount+, though Swift’s attendance and any new-music announcement have not been confirmed.
